API Nitrite Test Kit is a simple to use kit for determining dangerous nitrite levels fresh and saltwater aquariums.

It is a liquid type of kit which works by changing the colour of a water sample in relation to the nitrite concentration.

You simply need to compare the colour of the sample to the easy-to-read colour chart to determine the nitrite level.

Always read the instructions carefully before use.

Description

API water test kits will help you understand the importance of water quality. By having the correct parameters and good water quality, it will help your fish and plants live longer and healthier lives.

The NITRITE TEST KIT tests nitrite levels from 0 to 5 ppm.

Nitrite (NO₂):

  • The nitrite level should be as low as possible, less than 0.3mg/l is ok, higher than 0.3mg/l is harmful.
  • If the nitrite level is too high, carry out partial water changes (30% each) until the nitrite content is no more than 0.3mg/l. To help this, remove any debris such as fish food or plant remains, and add some API Quick Start to speed up the development of the biological filter. Using some API Aquarium Salt will reduce the toxicity of nitrite while the filter is removing it.

It is recommended to test every 2-3 days in new aquariums and once a week in established aquariums.
