Why is healthy plant growth so important for the aquarium?

Aquarium plants are not only decorative, offering aquarium inhabitants natural hiding places and shelter but they also influence the biochemical processes positively, thus ensuring an optimum biological balance in the aquarium.

Plants:

• Create the vital oxygen for fish and microorganisms during the daytime.
• Help to biologically clean the water, breaking down pollutants.
• Inhibit the growth of algae, out competing it for nutrients.

For these reasons, it is vitally important that you give your plants a good substrate to grow in.

Dennerle NutriBasis 6in1 contains:

1. Concentrated nutrient iron in depot form ensures rich green leaves.
2. High-quality quartz sand creates the optimum substrate climate.
3. Selected clay minerals in particular high-quality montmorillonite regulates the balance of nutrients: They release nutrients when needed and absorb them when there is a surplus.
4. Humus-rich natural peat creates a slightly acidic substrate environment with the optimum pH value and releases nutrients to the plants appropriately.
5. All nutrients and trace elements are in depot form with immediate and lasting effects.
6. It is guaranteed safe for all plants fish, shrimps, crayfish, snails, and other aquarium inhabitants.

Usage:

• Do not wash before use.
• Place a 5-8cm layer on the bottom, to provide a base structure for plant roots.
• Arrange any decorative rocks, stones, and wood.
• Add plants (keep moist while planting by spraying regularly).
• Finally, carefully fill with water without disturbing the soil.
• Any clouding will clear within a few hours.

Planting tips:

• Use in combination with a Dennerle CO₂ Set for a carbon source. This makes a world of difference in nearly all planted aquariums.

• Tropical and coldwater planted aquariums.

Tips:

• To finish off, you can add some Dennerle Crystal Quartz Gravel. This is great for use as a top dressing for NutriBasis plant nutrient substrate.
